Discover my Collections
By Selecting An Image
I invite you to explore a window into my world — a collection that moves from vibrant cityscapes to intimate portraits, to a quiet still life, and the spontaneous scenes that catch my eye. Each painting is a reflection of how I see and feel the world around me — moments of light, emotion, and atmosphere captured before they fade. Through color, movement, and transparency, I try to express not just what I see, but what I feel in that instant.
This portfolio is more than a gallery; it’s an ongoing conversation between observation and imagination — between the seen and the felt. I hope as you wander through these paintings, something within them resonates with you, even in a small way. Thank you for taking the time to share in my journey with watercolor / gouache and my quiet joy of creative expression.
Portraits
Embracing What make Us - Human
There’s nothing more unique than the human face—no two are ever alike. I love painting faces because they remind me of what sets us apart. No matter what we create or replicate, there will only ever be one of each of us — and that individuality deserves to be celebrated and captured.
Cityscapes
Urban Rhythms
Delve into the captivating world of cityscapes, where each watercolor painting captures how I see the rhythm of urban life and the snap shots that caught my eye. Experience the burst of color, values, and perspectives that drove me to generate a one of kind vision that becomes forever trapped - on paper.
Still Lifes
The Still World
A world where time slows and light lingers. The Still World is a collection of moments suspended in watercolor — simple objects, quiet spaces, and the beauty found in the "pause". Each painting invites you to look a little closer, to see the quiet hum of life within stillness
Lost Items
Unfound but Painted
A resting place for the pieces that found me along the way. These are the quiet discoveries — moments, objects, and faces that caught my eye and asked to be painted. Unplanned, unbound, but never without meaning — well at least to me. I hope that you find meaning as well.
About me: John Jakovlic

Watercolor and Gouache Art
I have always felt that art has a way of finding people when they least expect it. Sometimes it’s in a gallery, sometimes on a screen, sometimes in the quiet corner of a café, or even in a friends home. But in that small, fleeting moment of recognition—when something in a painting stirs a feeling, a memory, or a thought—it leaves an imprint that lasts. That’s the kind of art I strive to create. I believe that art has the quiet power to shift the way we see the world, even if only for a heartbeat. It can slow us down, make us look twice, make us feel something we didn’t know we were carrying. It can remind us of our shared humanity—the beauty, the melancholy, and the wonder of simply being alive.
